OK - I don't mean to go all fan girl, but I love this author. Her books make laugh out loud and smile to the point that my family thinks I have lost it!This was an audio book for me, and let me say I loved Sara and Max! Another great book of this series.
This was my first Christina Lauren book but it definitely won't be my last. One of my favorite authors was talking about this book which prompted me to one click it-and I was pulled in from the very start. There are books that can make you smile, books that can make you sigh and books that make you swoon. Beautiful Stranger does all that and more-it is one of the rare books for me that is the total package.Sara Dillon is looking for a fresh start after coming out of a long term relationship. She's trying to figure out who she is on her own, what she likes, what she wants. Seeing her blossom in her journey was so much fun. I sympathized with what she was going through and I cheered for her every step of the way. She wasn't expecting Max in her life-and neither was I.Max Stella. Oh, my Max. Max is absolutely magnificent. I was hooked on him immediately, from the moment he met Sara in the club I was a goner. Watching him fall, seeing him open up was just beautiful. He is absolutely, without a doubt, one of my all time favorite book boyfriends. I know I'll revisit him often.The writing in this book is superb. I truly felt I was there with the characters-the pictures that were painted were that vivid. I wanted to go have a drink with these people after work, just go somewhere and talk with them. The pacing was perfect to me as well. This was one of those books I both wanted to savor and devour at the same time-and I wound up devouring it. I have no regrets on that. I look forward to exploring the rest of this series and Christina Lauren's work. I highly recommend this book.

Sexy, a bit kinky with two characters who are charming and fun to read about.THE STORY: After six years with a cheating jerk, Sara Dillon is starting fresh in New York. At a dance club she meets a sexy Brit and she is ready to be crazy for once. But a hot sex encounter gets complicated when Sara ends up meeting Max Stella who just happens to be good friends with her friend's fiance. Sara and Max find that they can explore sex in unusual places and some other enhancements. Soon their no strings encounters turn to wanting to know one another and then a desire for a relationship. But Sara is wary of a man who seems to be a player after her fiance.OPINION: I might have enjoyed this book more than the first in the series -- and I really enjoyed that one. Sara and Max are an adventurous couple and the story is really one of self-discovery and acceptance. But the story never gets too serious and stays a fun, enjoyable read with lots of hot action.Sara is finding herself after a bad relationship. Max's life is going okay but he falls for Sara just when she is intent on keeping her distance and not taking things seriously.I loved that Max is head over heels for Sara long before he can have confidence in Sara. I also enjoyed watching these two explore their sexual relationship in ways that are unconventional but consensual and honest.A book that hooked me from the start. I just flew through the reading. I enjoyed the heat in this book but I enjoyed even more that this book is more concerned about the relationship between Sara and Max than sexual exploits.WORTH MENTIONING: This book includes public sex but is monogamous.CONNECTED BOOKS: BEAUTIFUL PLAYER is the second novel in the Beautiful series. Although there are overlapping characters, this book can be read as a standalone.STAR RATING: I give this book 5 stars.

It's my first Christina Lauren novel and boy could I kick myself for waiting so long to try out their work.THIS is how you do funny, sexy romance. If you are a fan of Emma Chase, you will like this author as well. Max Stella (OMG, that NAME ) Is now in the top 5 of my favorite book boyfriends (Malcolm Saint from Manwhore is still number 1, though). I love emotionally intelligent, honest guys who are perceived as commitment shy playboys but in reality are just sewing their wild oats until the meet the right woman.This is the publisher's summary: "Escaping a cheating ex, finance whiz Sara Dillon’s moved to New York City and is looking for excitement and passion without a lot of strings attached. So, the story is fairly predictable. However, the writing and the character development makes it as exciting as the first time I read a romance novel. Not to mention the sex is off the charts HOT!!! Max's acceptance of Sara's quirks and his patience and tenacity when it came to giving her what she wanted was great.I could go on and on about how much I loved this book. I can't quantify how much I loved the love story (because it is a GREAT love story) of Sara and Max. So, I won't try. I will just encourage you to read it.This is book 2 in a the Beautiful Bastard series and Bennett and Chloe are featured pretty heavily in this story as is Will the character in book 3 of the series. But, as I said this was my first book by these authors and so it can be read as a stand alone. I am definitely going to read them all now. I have already read the novella that is between books 2 and 3 called [Beautiful Bombshell] which is a great little romp about Bennett/Chloe and Max/Sara.It was awesome and delicious and leaves you wanting more. I listened to the audio version and read the Kindle version and the narrators were great. It is told from dual POV (which I love) and the male narrator's Max voice is awesome. It has a touch of cockney in it and it fits the image of Max as Cambridge educated, New York city playboy who also has a touch of scruff to him that lets him be deliciously dirty in the bedroom.This is a winner and is definitely one of the best I've read this year.View all my reviews
